Vikram Vedha Analysis, Hindi Remake shooting starts in June

Vikram Vedha is a indian Tamil language action thriller film inspired by the very famous folklore of Baital Pacchisi. Baital Pacchisi is about Raja Vikramaditya and Vetal. The basic story is when Vikramaditya faced many problems in his country, he wanted to know how to overcome the situation. A tantric then suggested him to catch Vetal and took to him. Vikramaditya went to catch Vetal. But Vetal was so clever that he couldn't catch him easily. Vetal then told Vikramaditya many stories and asked questions after telling the stories. After telling 25th stories, Vetal finally told him that the Tantric was the original culprit.

This is the theme of Vikram Vedha. Vikram is a fearless encounter specialist cop. But different than the other dramatic movie cops as no slow motion occurs when he shoots or beats any villain. He just shoots them and takes a cigarette and comes to home to live a simple life with his wife. But the twist is his wife is a lawyer who is dealing the case of Vedha.

In the other hand, Vedha is a gangster but different than other movie gangsters from his heart. He loves to deal with the cause not the problems. That's why I think both of them don't shoot each other at the end.

Behind the huge success of the film, a great reason is the characters and the theme. Pushkar Gayathri is the director duo of this film. They used the folklore as a base of the story and made a brilliant adaption in today's life. R Raghvan plays the role of that police officer and Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of the gangster. But the film is much more different than the regular tamil gangster-cop film. Because if you observe every tamil gangster films, there is a common pattern in that but this film is unique. Madhvan and Sethupathi did a brilliant acting in that film. That's the main reason to enjoy every moment of the film. Both of them received a filmfare award for this. Vijay got the Best Actor when Madhvan got the Critics Choice.

Theme

Vikram is a brave and honest encounter specialist cop who was decisive about good and bad.  Vedha is a gangster who understands the grey shades between good and evil.

In an encounter Vikram accidentally kills Vedha's brother(without knowing that). And He wants to catch Vedha. Vikram believes that each one of the people he shot, were criminals. When they are going to another encounter Vedha enters in the police station for surrender.

I loved that scene when one after one cops were trying to interrogate with Vedha but he replied a single word to none of them. But when Vikram enters in the room, he smiles and offers him to tell a story. Vedha knows his opponent very well.

Vedha tells him three stories but in this three stories he completely changed the perception of good and bad to Vikram.

Like the folklore, Vikram comes to know the devil exists in his unit and also the theory of killing only criminals ends when he kills Vedha's innocent brother.

But I loved the scene most when in the climax Vikram pointed the gun toward Vedha and said, "Now, Let me tell you a story.."

The character shades are brilliantly expressed by the colour shades of their shirts. At first when Vikram comes to Vedha. He wears a white shirt and Vedha wears a black shirt as a symbol of representing good and bad. But at the last after understanding that there nothing exists like universal good and bad, Both of them wears a grey shade shirts. This little small things, makes a great movie, into a masterpiece.

Updates on Bollywood Remake

We got a news previous year that the same director duo is making a hindi remake of Vikram Vedha. Some sources also says that at first SRK himself was in the project. He talked with the directors and produces and wanted Madhvan as the cop and wanted to play the role of Vedha.

But after some time, for some reasons he was not in the project anymore. Then Amir Khan and Saif ali Khan enters in the project. Amir Khan is also doing the remake of the hollywood great film Forest Gump as Lal Singh Chadda and then if he would do Vikram Vedha, it would be a hit easily for the script. Saif Ali Khan confirmed in a bollywood hungama interview that they were talking to producers about this film.

In that case Saif will play the cop and Amir the gangster. 

But Amir also left the project few months ago and Hrithik Roshan enters in the project.

Now we have got the news that the director is going to start the shooting in June. Hritthik is playing the role of Vedha. And Saif is playing the cop.

It is a great news for all Hritthik or Saif fans and equally for cinephiles. I am eagerly waiting to see the Hritthik-Saif chemistry and bonding in the film. Because Madhavan-Sethupathi already have set a high mark of acting in the original film. Hritthik also started to prepare for his role.

Now, if the pandemic doesn't go worse, the shooting will start in June. I am waiting to see this film on the big screen and you?
